The Emperor’s New Clothes

The version we have of "The Emperor’s New Clothes" is by Hans Christian Andersen, published in 1837. It’s the story of a vain Emperor who is easily conned by two criminals who pretend to sell him a magnificent suit of clothes that are actually invisible. The story originally is thought to be a Spanish folktale, “The Invisible Cloth” from the 14th century.
